Our pallet recycling service is essential to promote sustainability. We believe in all areas of our work we must do our best to help the environment. We have a commitment to helping ease the amount of waste that’s thrown onto landfill with our service.
Once pallets have reached the end of their lifespan, our job is to get them back into service. This then requires a dedicated refurbishment and repair service. Our wooden pallet recycling is one of the most environmentally friendly ways of reducing wooden pallet and timber wastage and is an important part of sustainable business practices.
We are experts at managing waste, repairing used pallets and getting the most out of a previously owned wooden pallet. This is so they don’t end up on landfill. We are proud to have over 20 years of waste management experience. As a company, currently manage the recycling of wooden pallets for businesses right across the U.K.
We are committed to sustainable practices and ensuring the protection of the environment here at Associated Pallets. As a minimum, we comply with regulations and standards set out for improving sustainability and the environment. In fact, we have implemented a quality and environmental management system to the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 standards.
All staff and people working on behalf of the company are made aware of the aims and objectives of the Quality and Environmental Management System and associated operating procedures, are expected to adhere to its requirements, and are encouraged to suggest ways in which these can be improved.
Our Recycling Service
We can guarantee that any pallets we collect from you will be either recycled or repurposed and won’t go towards additional timber waste. We can pay for your pallets depending on location, quantity and type and cover the whole of the UK.
However, there may be times when the pallets we collect are beyond repair. In these instances, pallets will be stripped and dismantled into reusable components with our pallet dismantling machine. Any pallets which are of an odd size or unable to reuse or dismantle will be used as timber chips.
Benefits of Pallet Recycling
The impact on the environment from this recycling effort has been significant. Figures show that over 350 million pallets are reused by pallet users and that less than 1% of recovered pallets go into landfill sites.
In 2019, Associated Pallets refurbished 245,000 wooden pallets that were then put back into service. We also sent approximately 36 tonnes of scrap wood to be turned into wood chip which can then be used for many other uses. This means we saved roughly 8,900 average trees from being felled!
This incredible recycling effort means that raw material costs are kept down and the supply of wood is kept at a reasonable level without too much demand on the tree stock. This shows just how important recycling is in the wooden pallet industry and the huge environmental impact recycling initiatives have had over the years.
One eco-friendly option is to recycle the pallets, along with any accessories, such as pallet collars. Recycling has seen an upswing in recent years due to the growing social awareness about conserving natural resources and reducing waste.
The environmental impact on recycling wooden pallets means that more trees can be saved, as fewer trees are needed to produce wooden pallets for the pallet industry. This saving of trees not only benefits the environment but also benefits human health, as trees can absorb carbon dioxide from the air and increase oxygen levels. It is important that the recycling efforts are continued so that the environment is protected and the pallet industry can continue working in a sustainable fashion.
